Short Interval Time Management Core Concepts

•    Organizations that operate in a variable workload environment must have a management planning and reporting system that is shift-by-shift and day-by-day.
•     Organizational performance improvement must be both top-down (centralized) and bottom-up (decentralized) in nature.

Short Interval Time Management Defined

Short interval time management is quantifying the work to be done, developing a plan for the successful completion of that work, making appropriate workload assignments for the staff, monitoring the work load, and reporting what actually occurred during a short period of time, usually a shift or a day. 

As one of several methodologies used in productivity consulting today, short interval time management can be further defined by what it is not.  Specifically, it is not benchmarking, management engineering, or the expert from afar consulting.  Neither is it the “how do you feel about it” approach.  It is also not, as Clifford Stoll in his book, “Silicon Snake Oil” alludes to, success simply due to computer generated direction based on sterile data.  Read More...
